Malkoff
Malkoff Devices is a small, family-run company in Alabama with a near-cult reputation for durability. It started from a practical need — reliable light for nighttime farm tasks — when Gene Malkoff began modifying Maglites for family and friends and selling early upgrades on eBay. An acquaintance suggested a replacement for the SureFire P60 lamp; the M60 was born, and evolved into the M61 that anchors the lineup today. Malkoff's first complete lights were rudimentary PVC-bodied builds the founder himself called "ugly but useful" — and, by his own account, they still work and are still ugly. Today the brand serves law enforcement, military, and outdoors users with potted, brass-heatsinked modules and metal-bodied lights. Customer service is famously direct — orders and questions are often answered by Gene himself.
